Barry Bonds

Ugh! I just turned the news on while I am preparing my primary lesson and getting my roast into the crock pot and I here Barry Bonds tied Hank Aaron's record last night. I have a total despise and disdain for the man, I switch to five different news channels and the story is the same. Blah blah blah. Is this all we have going on in the world to talk about is Barry Bonds? Tell me about the bridge collapse - isn't there a war going on didn't A-Rod do something?
My disgust for the man runs deep. I am not one of these people who just since he has been on steroids has decided to hate him, although that is a major factor in why I don't think his record counts. Holly and I had a run in with him.
We, Dad and mom and one of Jason's friends, were meeting Jason, our brother, at LAX, he had a four hour layover there between Salt Lake and Spain as he was going on his mission- so it was 1992 or 1993 I think I was 15 or something? Anyway we are walking through this enormous airport and we sit a black guy sitting around a planter box in the airport, not in security not in a private hiding place, but right there, he was skinny and he was wearing giant diamond earrings. As we pass him dad says, "He do you know who that guy was?" We of course had NO idea! He tells us that he was the highest paid baseball player of that year or something. We decide to go get his autograph. Side note * when I was 12 and in the 6th grade my dad knew a guy that played for the NY Giants football, we got tickets to the game and stayed in the same hotel as the team, so I was getting autographs all day long. I got to get Lawrence Taylor's autograph he was a nice guy.* So I was not too intimidated by a skinny baseball player who so obviously wanted to attention otherwise why would he be sitting so openly out in public. He had moved locations, he was now leaning against the side of wall/planter box by the time we got back. We approach, smiling and sweet. I don't remember how it came out from our end at first, something like, "Hey are you Barry Bonds? Can we get your autograph?" he said something like he would but - he didn't want to make a scene. Oh please! So as we were about to leave him and the sour taste was already creeping in my mouth a group of men got the courage to go talk to him and ask for autographs. He scowled at me and Holly and said which I remember pretty vividly, "Look what you started girls." Are you serious? I was 15 which made Holly 12? Holy crap guy.
Anyway so I couldn't care less about Bonds or this record that he is breaking. It doesn't count if you win the Tour de France if you had taken performance enhancing drugs, it shouldn't count in baseball either. Besides he is not even a nice person.
So there you have my BB rant. Better get back to my lesson and my roast.

I hate that guy, too. On the bright side, A-Rod made it to 500, and he has a good 15-20 years left in the majors to catch, and more importantly, bury Barry's record. I don't like the Yankees, at all, but GO A-ROD!!!
